Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14, 1970) is an American actor and writer. The two-time Golden Globe Award winning star made a name for herself by playing the role in CBS's One Day at a Time and as Barbara, and Hot in Cleveland where she played Melanie Moretti. As a teenager, she started to act and eventually became a character actress. As a small girl, the friendship she formed that she had with the daughter of TV producer ignited a lifetime passion for the business. Bertinelli later decided to take up acting as an occupation. Bertinelli as a teen who studied at the Tami Lynn School of Artists and began her career in the television industry. She quickly became popular for her acting skills, poise and her confident style. Additionally, her turbulent personal life, and struggle with substance abuse she worked for years to recover her life and emerge a winner. With her New York Times Best-Selling Books she has written about her struggle with addiction and struggles throughout her life. Today, the multi-talented star is hosting the Kids Baking Championship.
